In 1983, James was captured by Essex and transported to a secret facility in Canada known as the Weapon X Program. Here, James was grafted with the metal Adamantium onto his skeleton and bone claws. William Stryker was head of the Weapon X Program, where he attempted to put Logan under his control. However, Logan broke free of his programming and slaughtered almost every soldier and scientist in the facility. Logan was free into the wild Canadian forests.
